Ships

Battleships

Characteristically the largest and most intimidating ships on the sea, battleships are simultaneously the strength and main battle force of any team. Sporting lots of damage points, heavy armour and substantial fire power they are truly battle worthy. Battleships main role is to sink other battleships by providing long range artillery-like cover fire across long distances over the battle area. The way they do this is by using high calibre shells at high angles to bombard a target until it is no more. These leviathans do, however, have some weaknesses...

Destroyers

These small and nimble support ships provide a quick and deadly response to battleships by supporting them in defence and attack. A key component is the destroyers ability to unleash fast & deadly torpedo attacks on unsuspecting targets. Being quick and small, destroyers can dodge large calibre shells (to an extent) and get in close to deal devastating damage. Another role that destroyers fill is to provide anti-submarine capability to it's team, using depth charges.

Cruisers

Cruisers come in both light and heavy variants and are designed to be quick and versatile support ships for a team. Their primary role is to support and escort to the larger capitol ships. They do this by sinking other support vessels which may threaten them. Cruisers dominate the support ship ranks with high explosive firing canon salvoes. Various light cruisers, particularly of Japanese origin, are laden with multiple launchers to cover an area with waves of torpedoes. Other light cruisers can be equipped as extremely effective anti-air protectors for their team. Cruisers are sleek, quick and can take moderate damage before being sunk. Therefore they should not be underestimated.

Aircraft Carriers

If you dominate the air, you dominate the sea. Aircraft carriers control the sky and the sea so this makes them by definition the key to your team and fleet. Carriers can fill the air with fighters, denying all scouting or bombing capabilities. Or can use bombers to rain torpedoes on the tops of battleships and carriers to remove them from battle. Death from above is always a threat, which can only be countered by good fighter cover and strong Anti-aircraft ships.

Submarines

These predators under the sea have some of the most lethal alpha strike capability. Stalking unsuspecting victims of much bigger size and class submarines don't fear reprisal and can cripple an advancing force or deny areas entirely. When it comes to making an attack submarines choose big: battleships and carriers beware! Like all naval vessels they have weaknesses.
